Manchester City striker John Guidetti joined Stoke on loan for the rest of the season earlier today, presenting the young striker an opportunity to have a good run of games in England.
I’ve been particularly looking forward to seeing what the young Swede can offer in the English game following his successful loan spell at Feyenoord, in the Eredivisie, where the striker scored an amazing 20 goals in 23 appearances.
Most of Guidetti’s time at Manchester City has been hampered by illness and injury. He has appeared on the substitutes bench twice for Manchester City this season but is yet to fully pressure the world-class forward line that regularly starts for City.
This loan spell will do Guidetti the world of good, as this is his first loan spell in this country since being loaned out to Burnley in the 2010-2011 season where a much younger and naive Guidetti, only made 5 appearances.
Stoke should offer the promising 21-year-old minutes on the pitch and he will bring strength, power and a clinical eye for goal. If he impresses and scores goals anything like that of his spell at Feyenoord, whilst under Mark Hughes in the Premier League, it will surely show Pellegrini that this young striker has the potential to be the future of Manchester City.
