It was announced this week through a press release by A-league side Melbourne Heart that English Premier League side Manchester City now hold an 80% share in the Melbourne side. Football Federation Australia allowed the purchase of the struggling Melbourne team by the premier league giants to boost the club after season of disappointment and disrepute on and off the pitch.
Whilst the race for the title is as widely contested as it has been in years in years, the battle for Premier League survival is just as tight. Currently Sunderland sit equal bottom with West Ham and Cardiff City, but only three points separate the Black Cats from 15th place.
A day after Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa, the Reds seemed pretty happy with the way they came from behind to salvage a point. While one point is better than none, it is games like these that Liverpool could be left wanting at the end of the season and see them as lost opportunities. With everything seeming to gel within the team, it is hard to find a weakness. Yet I believe it comes down to a rotating backline.
Since Martinez took over from Moyes in the summer, Everton have gone from strength to strength and see themselves sitting in 5th place, 7 points off the leaders Arsenal.
I believe Everton have everything in place to finish in a top four position this season but when you look at the four teams above them: Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal, its hard to see the current top four dropping many points this season.
