Mourinho Makes Feelings Clear Regarding Toure Incident, But Should He Keep His Thoughts To Himself?

The rules on football are sometimes unclear and the referees are often scrutinised for not continuing the same standards, but I think many fans overlook the difficulty of the job. The officials have a very difficult job to do, and the bodies are being called upon again to come out and explain themselves.

Cardiff striker Craig Bellamy has been charged with striking Jonathan de Guzman in the club’s derby game with Swansea, but Yaya Toure has escaped any punishment for an incident in City’s game with Norwich – something that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is likely to be unhappy with.

It may be something to do with the fact both side are challenging for the trophy, or it could really be his opinion on the game, but before the decision was made the Portuguese manager made his feelings clear.

“If he is not suspended the message is clear – you can do what you want,” said Mourinho. “If the FA defends football he has to be suspended.”

It got me thinking whether or not I agree with him, but I think that he has a point.

I am not suggesting that the bigger teams get any preferential treatment, but to me there isn’t any difference in what Bellamy did and what Toure apparently did.

The only thing I don’t agree with is that Mourinho has got involved with it all, as neither incident had anything to do with him. He may have been answering a question directly asked to him, but he could have been more reserved with his answer. You know he would have had something to say if another manager was talking about his player.

Blues fans, would you rather he kept his thoughts to himself?
