Manchester United destroyed Newcastle on Saturday and showed us that they are not about to let this season just die out. Wayne Rooney played no part, which allowed a flexible line up of Juan Mata, Shinji Kagawa and Javier Hernandez, with Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini just behind. I don’t think it is a coincidence that Tom Cleverley played no part in the tie.
For me it is time the midfielder was given the boot. United looked brilliant yesterday and were not hindered by Cleverley’s sluggish play on the ball. They were more fluid, they looked more intent to make things happen and weren’t held back with him playing backwards passes.
The man I suggest they sign to replace him is Adam Lallana. The Southampton midfielder would give more options to David Moyes as he can play in the wider areas, and he is also in a different league to Cleverley.
The Saints man is quicker than Cleverley, he has a more impressive passing range and scores more goals.
For me Moyes need to make this happen. This weekend showed that they are stronger without Cleverley and I think it’s time they got rid of him.
United fans, do you agree?
