MOYES OUT: A Closer Look At The 6 Favourites For The Manchester United Job

So, there we have it. Manchester United have confirmed the sacking of David Moyes after just 10 months in charge of the Old Trafford club. Here is a brief look at the six favourites for the job (according to Sky Bet), and who I think should have it.

1) Louis van Gaal

The Dutchman is the firm favourite to come into the club, and in my eyes would be a good choice. Although he has never really stuck around at a club, he has huge amounts of success with sides such as Ajax, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich.

He could come in and sort the side out over a two or three year stint and have an understudy while there, should he take the job.

2) Ryan Giggs

With no managerial experience it’s a bit of surprise that his odds are so short. The Welshman is one of the oldest heads at the club and has been doing his coaching courses, but his lack of experience over the long-term could hurt the club.

3) Jurgen Klopp

He has officially ruled himself out of the job, but I think he should have been given it in the first place. He demands high tempo, attacking football and has built a remarkable side at Borussia Dortmund.

4) Diego Simeone

Atletico Madrid are on the verge of lifting the La Liga title this season after an impressive season, and it has been largely down to the Argentine boss. I’m not sure he would want to leave the club he helped build but the lure of the Premier League could be too much in the end.

5) Sir Alex Ferguson

Despite retiring in the summer after 27 years in charge, Fergie still attends games, still has a say in things and still knows what is going on, so to bring him in as a stop-gap could work. I would go with a long term deal though, for someone else.

6) Carlos Quieroz

The former assistant of the Red Devils is the last one, but I can’t see him being offered the job personally. The Portuguese boss had a big hand with Cristiano Ronaldo at both club and international level.

For me, I would go with van Gaal.
