Ryan Giggs broke into the first team at Manchester United when he was just 17 years of age, and he has come a long, long way since then. Having played almost 1000 games for the Red Devils, he is currently in charge of first team affairs, and he seems to be keen on giving the current youngsters their chance.
In United’s clash with Hull this evening, Giggs selected Adnan Januzaj, who has established himself as a first team player, as well as handing Tom Lawrence and James WIlson their first team debuts. Ben Amos and Will Keane were amongst the substitutes, but it was Wilson who stole the spotlight.
After just 18 minutes of his senior debut, the 18-year-old scored the opener, and doubled United’s lead on the hour mark with a simple tap in after Marouane Fellaini’s miss. United went on to win the game 3-1.
Needless to say, the social media sites erupted as a result.
Here are some of our favourites.
A star is born. Well, either that or he’ll be an answer on BBCOne’s Pointless in 10 years time. James Wilson. pic.twitter.com/90opwJlc5Q

18 – James Wilson is the fourth youngest player to score a Premier League goal for Manchester United (18y 5m 5d). Fledgling.

Love seeing our young talent given a chance. They’re denied all too often. Great that James Wilson rewarded Giggs’ faith in him.
