Vidic & Ferdinand To Start? This Is How Ryan Giggs Should Line His Manchester United Side Up vs Southampton

The best Manchester United can hope for this season is sixth, though they will need to beat Southampton at St Mary’s on Sunday and hope that Tottenham lose their home game with Aston Villa. So, in order they win their game, this is how I would line my side up if I was Ryan Giggs.

I would choose a 4-2-3-1 formation, with David De Gea in goal. He has been superb all season. At right-back I would select Chris Smalling, and on the left I would go for Patrice Evra. Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic would be my central pairing, as it could be their last for the club, and will definitely be their last together at United.

In the central slots I would go with Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick, who have proved that they can work well together in the middle of the pitch.

I’d like to see Shinji Kagawa in a central role behind the forward as he hasn’t had the chance to this season, and I would have Antonio Valencia and Adnan januzaj either side of him.

With Wayne Rooney’s fitness a doubt, I would choose Robin van Persie to spearhead the attack.

United fans, would you agree with my line up?
