When Marouane Fellaini made the switch from Everton to Manchester United in the summer, many had him down to be the perfect addition for a side with a feeble midfield. Everyone else half expected him to fall flat under Moyes’ new regime at Old Trafford, and it was the latter who has so far been proved correct. After a dismal season at Old Trafford, the burly Belgian has sent out a message to the United fans – he will get better and prove his worth.
But does he have the ability to step up?
At Everton Fellaini was deployed as an attacking midfielder who provided an option for the lone frontman that Moyes set up with. However, with an array of top class forward in the United side, he has been dropped into a deep role next to Michael Carrick and has flattered to deceive.
He has completed 88% of his passes, but in his 16 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils he has made just five key passes – two of which came in the weekend’s win over Hull.
Injury has hampered his debut season, but he showed against Hull that he is still a quality player and if he can steer clear of injury, and under the guidance of a new manager, I firmly believe that Fellaini can be a success.
United fans, do you agree?
