According to reports, Arsenal and Chelsea both want Manchester United star Phil Jones, who still hasn’t settled into a sole position at Old Trafford. For me it is no surprise that there is interest in the 22-year-old, but United must keep hold of him. Here’s why.
A few years back Sir Alex Ferguson said that Jones could become one of the best Manchester United players in their history, but he has so far flattered to deceive at the club.
He is a big, strong defender who has also been played in the anchorman role, but has had setbacks from injury and an unsettled playing position.
He is willing to get hurt for the shirt on his back and will never back out of a challenge, which I think epitomises the spirit at United.
Last season he made 26 appearances, made 150 clearances, 60 tackles, and 55 interceptions. He is able to shield the ball, pump balls into the forwards and has an almost unnatural ability to read the game.
For me, he is the future of United, as long as he sticks to playing as a centre-back.
