Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is a wanted man, as reports are suggesting that Paris Saint Germain will make a £50 million bid for the Belgium international. Now, as a Chelsea fan I might be being slighted biased, but I think the club needs hold onto the little winger for dear life. Here’s why.
The first reason is the way he creates opportunities – Hazard made 92 key passes in the season just gone, which is more than Oscar and Frank Lampard combined.
He needs no invitation to drop his shoulder and slide a ball through to the strikers, or to prod a ball through the smallest of gaps for someone to run onto, and that vision and awareness is not something that can be taught.
The second reason is the goals that he provides. In a season where the Chelsea forwards failed to produce, Hazard scored 17 goals in his 49 games.
The third and final reason is his potential. Jose Mourinho described him as the best player in the world under the age of 23 earlier in the season, and I would probably agree.
Also, what is £50 million to a man like Roman Abramovich?
