Van Gaal To Make This Striker First Manchester United Signing? Why Red Devils Should Steer Clear

Reports are telling us that Louis van Gaal’s first signing at Manchester United will be Bayern Munich forward Mario Mandzukic. The Netherlands manager is ready to pounce on the Croatia international after an apparent bust up with Bayern boss Pep Guardiola. Here is why United should steer clear of him this summer.

The main reason I put forward is that they simply don’t need him, in my opinion.

United currently have Wayne Rooney as the main striker with Robin van Persie close behind. The latter was the Premier League’s top scorer last season but has struggled with injury in this one, though he has a lot of experience with new boss van Gaal and is likely to be a major player for the team.

Then in reserve United have Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck, both of whom haven’t played as much as they perhaps should have.

If you have two forwards struggling for game time because of the quality of the other two, why would you sign another?

Trying to fit Rooney, Juan Mata and Shinji Kagawa into the same side is also a problem, so I would forget about moving for Madzukic.

United fans, do you agree?
