When Cesc Fabreagas left Arsenal to join Barcelona a few years ago, the Gunners ensured that they would have first refusal should the Spain international leave Camp Nou. Now that it seems the case, though, reports suggest that the Gunners will reject the chance to sign him, despite him being available for £30m. This, in my opinion, is a big mistake.
Arsenal need strength in depth if they are going to challenge for the title next season and Fabregas would offer that in abundance.
He has everything that the capital side could want and in my opinion would make them a cut above what they were last season.
Another reason is it would allow Aaron Ramsey to learn from one of the best in his position in European football. The Wales international had an extraordinary season last time out and would really benefit from his experience.
Also, it would mean that Manchester United would not get him. That might sound silly, but it could hamper United’s season before it even starts.
