Rojo can play either as a centre back or slot in as a left wing back and its his tactical flexibility to play in a number of positions  that provoked new United manager Louis Van Gaal to pursue his chase for the defender.

Rojo seemed delighted with the move to Old Trafford and sounded keen to do well in the Red Devisl colours, “It is such an honour to say that I now play for Manchester United. The Premier League is the most exciting league in the world and to have the chance to play in it for the world’s biggest club is a dream for me.”

Rojo is United’s third summer signing of the summer after Luke Shaw from Southampton and Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao and will wear the number five shirt at the club
