Chelsea have completed the signing of Loic Remy from fellow Premier League club Queens Park rangers for a deal worth £10.5m after agreeing to pay the player’ transfer release clause. It was widely reported across media outlets that Arsenal were plotting to hijack the move for the 27 year old by staging a late entry but Chelsea has staved off the fight from their fierce London rivals to sign the player.

Remy featured for Newcastle United last season as QPR were relegated and despite the Alan Pardew’s side making a bid on Friday afternoon to sign the French international, Remy’s heart was definitely on to play for a much bigger club.

Chelsea certainly gives him the chance after Fernando Torres oday completed his move to Italian outfit AC Milan after Demba Ba had also left the club to join Turkish side Besiktas and Samuel Eto’o was released, the Cameroonian who now plays for Everton.

Remy seemed delighted on the move saying, “Chelsea are one of the best clubs in the world I remember the amazing atmosphere at Stamford Bridge when I played there for Marseille and I can’t wait to play for the first time in front of my new fans.”

The player was earlier scheduled to join Liverpool but failed a medical early in the transfer window.
