Manchester United Midfielder Linked With Shock Exit Rumours

The next few days could be the biggest and the most exciting for the inaugural edition of Indian Super League as Pune FC are looking to sign Manchester United midfielder Anderson and former Barcelona striker Eidur Gudjohnsen, reports Goal.com.

Anderson hasn’t been in the best of form off late and a two-month stint in India could benefit the Brazilian in getting his fitness levels and confidence back. While it will take something special for Pune to sign Anderson form Manchester United, Gudjohnsen’s arrival looks more realistic as the Icelandic striker is without a club at present.

Anderson’s signature will be a massive coup for the Pune franchise as he is only 26-years of age and much younger and competitive than some of the marquee players signed by the other ISL clubs. The Brazilian knows that he’ll be a squad player under Van Gaal and could make a short term switch before the January window to get regular playing time. He has just made one appearance as a substitute this season and has been seen as a surplus amidst a group of super talented midfielders at Old Trafford.

Pune City FC’s CEO, Gaurav Modwel revealed, “We need a striker and a playmarker.”, while talking about the possibility of new arrivals.

Earlier TOI reported that Adrian Mutu is close to joining Pune City FC. Modwel said on Tuesday, “”Discussions are on with Mutu and we’ll come to know his decision within the next 48 hours.”

If Mutu decides not to join the ISL franchise then Gudjohnsen, who is a backup target, might be approached. The ISL is set to start on October 12th and teams are working at full throttle to get the signature of their targets as soon as possible to give them some time to gel with their respective groups before the tournament starts.

Anderson spent the second half of the 2013-14 season on loan at Fiorentina, “He could be roped in depending on whether his contract allows him to play for a club partly owned by Fiorentina itself,” said a source.
