Manchester United Target comments on his future; Can Red Devils Sign Him?

Look away Manchester United fans! This piece of news won’t soothe you eyes. According to reports in English Tabloid Mirror, Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that he is happy at Real Madrid despite rumours linking him with a return to Old Trafford next summer.

The links intensified when a Manchester United supporters’ group paid for a plane to fly carrying a banner “Come home Ronaldo” when Real were taking on Villarreal in a League clash.

In a Twitter plea, United Reel group claimed: “We are all united by our love for Cristiano both as a player and as a person. We stand united in our views and will not stop until we BRING RONALDO HOME!”

Ronaldo has been tight lipped over his future at the Spanish capital and despite leaving the Red Devils in 2009, there have been reports with the current Ballon D’Or winner returning to England. Ever since his £80m move in 2009, Ronaldo has taken his game to an altogether different level. He has been in breathtaking form this season too, scoring 14 goals in 10 appearances for the Lod Blancos.

Ronaldo could look to leave the Spanish giants following high profile departures of Angel Di Maria and Xabi Alonso out of the Bernabeu.

However when asked about the message carried out by the plane by Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, Ronaldo responded: “How could I not see that plane? It flew past 10 times. I always said that I have a family to Manchester but I’m good in Madrid. I’m glad of the affection that United fans have for me, it means that I have left good memories.”

The recent developments would come as huge disappointment for the United faithful who have grown desperate to see their prodigal son return to the Premier League. With United now having Louis Van Gaal in charge and a new dawn to look at, Ronaldo’s sheer presence could lift the mood at Old Trafford.
