6. Nigel de Jong
The shocker on the list, as Manchester United have been in pursuit of his signature, but de Jong had done well in the Premier League earlier, for Manchester City, before he left. He might want to improve his standing in England, and a move to Arsenal, who are in desperate need for a player of his caliber, would be perfect. If Arsenal play their cards right, they could just bag him.
It is up to Wenger to decide if he wants to choose experience or youth, brain or brawn and a player who can adapt easily or a player who will take time to blossom. However, Wenger will have to make a decision quickly, as he cannot expect to last the season with the defensive midfielders he currently has.
