Injury Blow For Liverpool As The Goal Machine Is Injured Again

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has suffered another injury which could rule him out for a considerable amount of time. The 25-year old pulled out of a training session due to a thigh strain which could see him miss the game against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Sturridge hasn’t had the best of luck with his injury problems in the last few months as this is the third time he has had to sit out through an injury. It means that Brendan Rodgers could be without Mario Balotelli and Sturridge for the upcoming game against Crystal Palace. Balotelli missed the international friendly against Albania and the European Championship qualifier against Croatia as he suffered from a hamstring injury on Friday. However, he might feature come Sunday as the injury wasn’t as bad as thought at first. It will depend on how he trains.

The Liverpool forward line has been in disastrous form this season as the trio of Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini are yet to score in the Premier League after 888 minutes of action. Balotelli himself has been in disappointing form and the fans are already calling for him to be sold. The Italian hasn’t scored in the League after playing for 682 minutes.

The form and the injuries are a huge cause for concern as Liverpool lie 11th in the league and are one defeat way from being eliminated in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League.

Sturridge was in brilliant form last season and started the season nicely with a goal. His all-round play was excellent as well before getting injured.

Borini could get his chance

While Rickie Lambert has been disappointing, Fabio Borini has shown glimpses that he could yet revive his career at Liverpool. His best game came against Swansea City in the Capital One Cup tie when he helped his side overturn a one-goal deficit.

With Balotelli in disappointing form and carrying an injury, we could just see Borini starting ahead of Lambert in the next game.
