Christmas XI – Best Players So Far This Season Featuring Manchester United And Arsenal Stars

Midfield and Strikers

Nemanja Matic – The type of player that every Premier League team wishes to have, he screens the defence and has good tackling and passing skills, which make him a nightmare for oppositions, as he is not easy to beat. Chelsea paid a huge price for him, and their investment is bearing fruit.

Alexis Sanchez – He took two games to get started, and has been in form ever since, scoring goals – nine, so far – or grabbing assists – five, so far. He has been the shining light through this not-so-good Arsenal campaign, where problems have been lurking at every corner.

Gylfi Sigurdsson – A Tottenham discard, he has been proving his talent and worth at Swansea, getting assists consistently. He has to be the find of this campaign, as he has gone toe-to-toe with the best-known players of the division, in a less stronger team, but has performed equally well.

Stuart Downing – He has to be hailed for West Ham’s classy football this season, having been moved to the centre of the pitch. His pace dictates the speed of play; his crossing and passing skills have been decisive for most of the Hammers’ goals and he has moved on from being an expensive Liverpool flop.

Forwards:

Sergio Aguero – He has been the catalyst of Manchester City’s campaign this season, as the team has been good without him, but has been better with him. He has performed when he has not been injured, getting 14 goals in 15 games, in a campaign in which City have fallen behind in the title race.

Charlie Austin – He has scored more than half of QPR’s goals this season, and is currently in form. He has enabled QPR to win their home games, and with their atrocious record on the road, a string of wins at home through his goals could just save QPR from a probable relegation.

Diego Costa – He was in red-hot form through the start of the season, as Chelsea opened up an unassailable lead at the top of the standings. He scored 9 goals in 7 games, after tapering off after that, as his teammates performed after that, while he has contributed on the pitch, even with his hamstring problems.

Players who also deserved places, but did not get them were Graziano Pelle, Eden Hazard, Nathaniel Clyne and Cesc Fabregas, who have all played important roles in their respective teams’ progress this season. These eleven players have been the leading factors behind making the Premier League more enjoyable for viewers, with their skill, their performances and their ability to give their lives on the pitch, while representing their respective clubs.
