“It Is No Big Drama” Defender Talks About Arsenal Link

Arsenal target Winston Reid has revealed that he isn’t letting any of the transfer talk affect his good form for West Ham. The center back has been in excellent form this season and has helped his side to a dream fourth-placed position so far in the league.

He told the Newham Recorder, “It doesn’t really affect me. It is just one of those things that has been going on in the background.

“I know where I am and just get on with it. I have always given 100 per cent for this club for as long as I have been here and I will continue to do that.

“It is not something that bothers me, it is just part of being a footballer and it is no big drama.”

Reid has been linked with a move to Arsenal and it could happen as soon as January since he is yet to agree on a new deal at West Ham. Reid’s current contract expires in the summer which could mean that the Hammers will have to sell him in January or risk losing him for free. The 26-year old could delay on signing a new deal as he is well aware of the interest from elsewhere. At 26 years of age, Reid is just entering a period where he can become a world class defender for both club and country and would definitely prefer playing for a bigger side if he had the chance to do so.

Reid has appeared in all but one game for West Ham this season and has formed a good partnership with both James Collins and James Tomkins. With only a few months remaining on his contract, he could cost less than €10m. Arsenal have had quite a lot of injuries this season in the defensive third and could strengthen come January in order to add more depth to the squad. Reid’s addition will help in the Champions League as well since he will be eligible to play if Arsenal decide to include him in the squad for the knockout phase.
