Manchester United attacker Angel Di Maria has revealed that his former teammate and former Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford is highly unlikely.
Ronaldo’s potential return to Manchester United has been well documented by the media despite his agent Jorge Mendes stating that his client will finish his career at Real Madrid.
Now, United’s record summer signing Di Maria has played down such rumors. The 26-year old, who played with Ronaldo for four seasons, said, “I don’t think he [Cristiano Ronaldo] is coming back to Manchester. It’s hard to quit Real Madrid.
“Maybe, but I think he’s having a great time and I don’t see that he wants to change.”
The Argentinian continued that he was lucky to be plying his trade for a big club like Manchester United after leaving Spanish giants Real Madrid, “Thank God I have the opportunity to be in big clubs. Things got better for me, I got better. Being in big clubs makes you get used to these things.
“That they [the Man United fans] sing my name or ‘Argentina Argentina’ fills me with pride.”
Di Maria had a brilliant start to his career in England after being his side’s best player in the opening games despite his side not doing all that well. However, his good form was halted after an injury.
In his absence, United haven’t done badly as they have managed to go unbeaten thanks to some good displays by their captain Wayne Rooney. Di Maria had some kind words for his teammate, “[Wayne] Rooney is a quality player.
“He has an amazing mindset and desire to play every game that is unmatched. He plays every game for 90 minutes.
“He’s always giving he best, fully in every game. That has surprised me. He is a player who deserves to be here.”
