Defending FA Cup Champions Arsenal have made a £3.7 million bid for Borussia Dortmund’s German International Kevin Grosskreutz. In his recent Press Conference, Arsene Wenger had made it clear that he will be signing atleast two players at the end of the Winter Transfer Window.
According to reports in Dailystar, Arsene Wenger has approached Dortmund and has offered the mentioned bid to secure the signature of the versatile player. He can play anywhere in the midfield apart from playing as a right back. Bringing the German International to the Emirates Stadium will solve Arsenal’s defensive midfield problems.
Grosskreutz still has 18 months left on his contract, which will end at the end of next season. But the 26 year old might leave Dortmund, who are still loitering in the relegation zone of Bundesliga. Along with Grosskreutz, Dortmund might also lose the likes of Marco Reus, Mats Hummels, Ilkay Gundogan, Nuri Sahin and Neven Subotic to other clubs if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, which looks like a certainty.
Grosskreutz is a World Cup winner with Germany after he was a part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup although he failed to feature in the finals. So far, he has appeared 5 times for his national team. Wenger had a good look at the player when Grosskreutz started both Champions League games when Arsenal played Dortmund earlier this season.
Grosskreutz is all set to join the German trio of Per Mertasacker, Mesut Ozil and Serge Gnabry at the Emirates Stadium. He might be the second signing for Arsenal in this window after rumours are saying that Arsenal have signed defender Paulista from Villareal and are waiting for the work permit to be approved by the officials.
The Gunners are currently fifth in the league table with just one point below Manchester United.
