“With Mourinho At Chelsea, My Progress Would Be Even Greater” Brazilian Midfielder Desperate For Stamford Bridge Switch

Shakhtar Donestk’s Douglas Costa reveals why he is very desperate to sign for the English Premier League leaders Chelsea before the transfer window comes to a close. The Londoners are currently negotiating a deal in order to bring the Shakhtar midfielder to Stamford Bridge before the transfer deadline, which falls on next Monday.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho wants to increase his midfield options and is even willing to sacrifice both Ander Schurrle and Mohamed Salah to raise funds for the Brazilian after his side’s shock 4-2 FA Cup fourth-round defeat to League One side Bradford last Saturday.

Despite having their opening £16m bid rejected by Shakhtar last week, the Blues are still confident on signing the midfielder before the transfer window gets over. Now the midfielder himself has made it clear about his desire to play under the Special One Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.

“To play at Chelsea is a dream for any player. It is standing next to some of the best players in the world and competing with the world’s best as well. But really, what catches my eye is the coach. He is a very intelligent coach and has been victorious wherever he went. One of the things that would make me happier to act at Chelsea would be this. I also know that with Mourinho at Chelsea, my progress would be even greater. He has won just about everything. He is among the best, if not the best. He is at the top,” Costa said according to Dailystar.

If Chelsea manages to sign the midfielder, Mourinho might reduce the workload of current midfielders Oscar, Cesc Fabregas, Willian, Eden Hazard and Nemanja Matic who were playing some non-stop football since the start of the season. The players were seen tired out in the last few matches. Going into the crucial part of the season, Chelsea are looking to give rest and freshen up their midfielders. Chelsea are in race for winning a treble which includes Premier League, UEFA Champions League and Capital One Cup.
