There is certainly a competition at Manchester City to have the chance to lead the attack each week. Roberto Mancini has a task difficult decision to make each week that all managers could only dream that they had. He has four world class strikers that are fit and capable of scoring goals.
There is one out of the four who of late has been scoring more often than the other three and that is Edin Dzeko. He is currently City’s top scorer having scored 8 goals in 12 appearances so far this season. His hard work has been rewarded lately ever since scoring the winner against Fulham having coming off the bench. Since then he has started for City and he showed why he deserves a start when he scored both goals in the 1-2 win against West Brom last weekend.
His efforts were being noticed by a miserable looking Balotelli who seems to have suffered the most from Dzeko’s goal scoring form. The Bosnian striker has recently been frustrated by those who feel he should be labelled City’s ‘super sub’ but he feels he should have a starting place with the current form he is in. It seems that with his league form as it is I would be surprised if Dzeko isn’t starting this weekend.
Yes Dzeko is having a good season so far but this isn’t a one off as he has always scored goals where ever he has been. For Wolfsburg he scored 66 goals in 11 games and for his country he has 26 goals from 49 games. His height proves to be a factor when he plays as he is able to bring the ball down well to get a shot away. Dzeko hasn’t got breathtaking speed and therefore relies on good service when putting his chances away.
Is best goal for City came against Tottenham Hotspur last season when they won 1-5 at White Hart Lane when he curled the ball in the top corner with his left foot, that finish showed everyone what he is capable of. He is deadly in front of goal and he can score with both feet as his second goal against West Brom was superbly taken first time with his right foot.
