Premier League fans rejoice. We may have seen the last of John Terry in the English topflight as the Telegraph are reporting that Monaco are lining up a £7m deal for the defender with a enormous tax-free salary to tempt him over to France. Although Chelsea fans will inevitably be miffed at the news as Terry has put so much into the club, the rest of the country will be glad to see the back of him.
The 32-year-old has caused unrest on numerous occasions in his career in football but has always landed on his feet, but with Rafa Benitez’s arrival at the club last year and injury he found himself out of the picture in terms of first team football, with David Luiz and Gary Cahill forming the heart of the defence.
Monaco are looking to rebuild something special in France with their billionaire owner Dmitry Rybolovlev continues to pump in his money after their promotion to Ligue 1. The affluent Frenchmen have already secured moves for Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez as well as the big money move for Radamel Falcao, and you can almost feel them wincing as they read the news Terry could be on his way.
I am sure Wayne Bridge won’t mind him leaving the country though.
