With the BBC reporting that Manchester City are in for Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo, we at Football Friends Online have rustled up 10 facts about the goal-gobbler.

1) Negredo was born in the Spanish capital, Madrid, and signed to the youth ranks of Rayo Vallecano as a teenager.

2) After three years in the youth system Negredo made his first team debut in 2004 and ended up making 12 appearances before his switch to Real Madrid.

3) After scoring a few goals in the reserve team, then-Los Blancos manager Fabio Capello sold him to fellow La Liga outfit Almeria with an option to buy him back. In two seasons at the club Negredo scored 32 goals in 73 games.

4) Real Madrid then took up that option before flogging him to Seville in 2009 for €15m with Madrid again implementing a buy back clause for the first two years.

5) After 180 games for Sevilla, Negredo scored 85 goals.

6) Negredo led Sevilla to the Copa del Rey trophy in the 2009/10 season.

7) Negredo has represented the Spanish national side on 14 occasions and scored six goals.

8) Negredo was part of the squad to win the European Championships in 2012.

9) His agency is Boss Espania, who also represent Roberto Jiminez  and Ruben Perez.

10) Last season, Negredo hit 25 La Liga goals in 36 games.
