Jose Mourinho has operated similarly to wherever he has been. His teams at Porto, Chelsea, Inter and Real Madrid have all played tight football with an emphasis on counter attacking. He builds his teams from the back, deploying rough and ready centre-backs who are capable on the ball, and with a plethora of attacking midfielders behind a lone centre-forward figure.
One of those creative outlets is Kevin de Bruyne. But the Metro are reporting that the rumoured interest in the young Belgian has been confirmed. I’m a big fan of the midfielder, so here is my case to the Special One, I know you’re reading Jose, as to why he should be kept at Stamford Bridge.
Three games is not enough to judge the 22-year-old. For those that have seen him playing the game after a run of appearances in a side sculpted around him will have seen just how positive he is on the ball, striving to take opponents on.
With only Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o the viable options for Chelsea up top, because, let’s face it, Demba Ba is awful, Mourinho has already experimented with his forward line. Andre Schurrle has been deployed up top already this season because of his pace, and de Bruyne could benefit from that. With Juan Mata on the left, Oscar on the right, Eden Hazard and de Bruyne are perfect to link up and interchange in the middle.
He has created three chances in three games, won 100% of his take ons and completed 81% of his passes.
