It is a sign of the times that within seconds of Jack Wilshere’s excellent opener for Arsenal today there was already a video of the goal on the internet.
To be fair, any of the goals scored in today’s game between Arsenal and Norwich could have won the coveted Goal of the Week Award but the opener takes the honour because it is, quite simply, one of the best team goals you will see this season.
Arsene Wenger has always expressed a desire for his teams to play ‘the beautiful game’ with slick passing and intricate movement. All of these qualities were on display against Norwich as the creative juices from their midfield quartet of Wilshere, Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey were in full flow.
How about that Ramsey, eh? Talk about finding some serious form. The Welshman has been absolutely outstanding and it was his goal that sealed the game. And what a goal it was, too. The first, however, is an outstanding display of one-touch football and flair.
Olivier Giroud, who had a fine game, has a knack of pulling off very effective flicks and his pass to Wilshere is sublime and the Englishman was able to finish first time.
That’s two goals in two games for Jack Wilshere now after not being able to find the back of the net for an eternity, but if he were not to score again for a while then at least he has this as a pretty decent reminder.
Please do watch Match of the Day to see the other goals from the game but, for now, this is my choice for goal of the week. Enjoy.
