The big game in the Bundesliga this weekend was the battle at the top, Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich. It was the visitors who took the three points thanks to goals from Mario Gotze, the former Dortmund midfielder, Arjen Robben and Thomas Muller to secure their place at the top of the German top tier.
Elsewhere, on Friday night Stuttgart hosted Borussia Monchengladbach and, again, it was the visitors who took the points. Goals from Raffael and Oscar Wendt saw the Foals claim the victory in what was their fourth win in a row.
There were high scoring games at Franfurt, where they drew with Schalke 3-3, and the Sunday tie at Werder Bremen which finished 3-2 to visiting side Mainz.
Bottom of the league Braunschweig lost again at Freiburg, while Augsburg beat Hoffenheim 2-0 at home – a result which sees them sit in 10th place.
Nurnberg and Wolfsburg drew 1-1 and Hertha Berlin fell to a 1-0 loss at home to Bayer Leverkusen, a result which sees Sami Hyypia’s men rise to second.
In Sunday’s early kick off Hamburg hosted out-of-form Hannover and it resulted in a 3-1 win to the home side, which was a well needed three points after two consecutive losses.
Another enthralling weekend in the Bundesliga, I think you’d agree.
