Taking advantage of other teams’ financial troubles is now something that most football clubs are willing to do, and if you believe the Mirror then Chelsea could be doing just that as the reports say that Jose Mourinho and his bosses could be going in for Benfica’s Lazar Markovic and former Blues man Nemanja Matic, but what could the pair offer the Blues should he join?
Well, the latter is someone we already know a bit about, as he played for the west London club not so long ago. The 25-year-old struggled to force himself into the first team while at Chelsea but has since made a name for himself in Portugal, winning the Player of the Year in the Portuguese topflight last season.
He has the intelligence, the awareness and the ability to pluck the ball off opponents that is needed to thrive at the top of European football, but whether or not he would be interested in a move to Stamord Bridge.
Serbian winger Markovic is a different kettle of fish, though, as he is a nimble player who is packed with tricks, flicks and everything else in that capacity.
He can pass, cross and score goals, but most of all he is always looking to beat his man and in my opinion Chelsea’s squad would is a lot weaker without him.
