So, Juan Mata is a Manchester United player. Who’d have thought it? The Spaniard made the jump from Chelsea this week in a mega move which has seen a lot of people question whether this is the start of a David Moyes revival. To start a new dawn off the back of one player may be a bit much, but I think that a few new faces could do just that.
Firstly I would let Rio Ferdinand leave the club in the summer. The former England international is out of contract in the come the end of the season and I for one think he’s past it, so with Phil Jones, Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling all able to play there, as well as Nemanja Vidic – who is also running out of contract – I would let Ferdinand walk.
Secondly, I would have a serious look at Ivan Rakitic. The Sevilla player has everything that United need – he scores goals, creates goals and is also strong in his defensive abilities. This season he has 12 goals and 12 assists in 26 games.
Lastly, I would look to sign Southampton left-back Luke Shaw. The teen has been a superb asset to the Saints and is seen as many as the long-term first choice with the England side, and for me the future of Manchester United as Patrice Evra’s current deal expires in the summer.
