David Seaman is renowned as one of the greatest goalkeepers that the Premier League has ever seen, and probably Arsenal’s greatest ever shot-stopper. He played over 400 league games for the Gunners from 1990-2003 and won numerous trophies, something which he realises Arsenal are in desperate need of.
The former England number 1 has come out to say that Arsenal winning the FA Cup is far more important than them finishing fourth and gaining a Champions League place for next season. I must say that I agree with him.
Seaman said,” I would take winning the FA Cup over finishing top four. Arsenal have been in the Champions League since it began.
“That has – apparently – become nothing. It’s a great achievement, but we want to win something and the FA Cup would be great.”
The reason I would agree with him is that Arsenal fans are getting incredibly frustrated with their side’s lack of silverware. Each season the pressure is cranked up and it adds to the expectations of the club, and in turn makes it more difficult for the players.
Should they win the FA Cup, then I think they could start a new page in their history, with or without Wenger, and push on to where they should be, and where they used to be.
Do you agree?
