Rafa Benitez is a manager who splits opinion across football. The Spaniard had a hugely successful time at Liverpool, winning the FA Cup and the Champions League, and although he won the Europa League with Chelsea last season, he was not the most popular man in west London.
However, former Liverpool hero Dietmar Hamann has put his name forward for the vacant Manchester United post, much to the surprise of some.
Benitez is a fine manager, he has proved that with numerous clubs around Europe. He has two La Liga titles under his belt with Valencia, which is a big deal, as well as a UEFA Cup, four major trophies with Liverpool from his six-year stint, and two major trophies with Inter Milan.
He has also been awarded with a host of individual accolades from his time of charge of clubs.
Now currently in charge of Napoli in Serie A, I would agree with Hamann’s point about him being considered.
The German said,” It is certainly a name they should consider. They need somebody with a track record who can work with the big players, who knows what is required to get in the Champions League and play a big role in it for years to come.”
United fans, how would you feel about this man taking charge of your club?
