Chelsea will need to be bold in the upcoming transfer window and act fast if they are to secure their top targets. Reports are suggesting that they will do just that, by moving for Diego Costa in order to sign him before the World Cup. For me, Costa is the missing piece to the puzzle at Stamford Bridge, and here’s why.
Chelsea have the manager in place to win a title. Jose Mourinho has won numerous Champions League trophies, league titles and domestic cups across European clubs, and has had huge success at Chelsea in the past.
So that’s the boss ticked. Roman Abramovich is also there to support him financially.
The defence is also sorted. They had the best defensive record in the Premier League this year and have Kurt Zouma coming into the club in the summer, who is a top, young centre-back.
The midfield is also looking strong. Frank Lampard is still ploughing on, but the likes of Ramires, David Luiz, John Obi Mikel, Nemanja Matic are all superb players, and the wide players all speak for themselves. Oscar, Eden Hazard, Willian, Mohamed Salah, Andre Schurrle and the like have all had good seasons.
Chelsea’s youth side have also just won the FA Youth Cup.
The only part of the club that is lacking is the strikers. Diego Costa is the man to come in and change that, and to get him signed up before the World Cup would be brilliant business.
