Manchester United have had a dismal campaign and will be relieved that it has all come to an end. It won’t be long until they are preparing for the new season, though, so here are four players who they should get rid of this summer.
1) Tom Cleverley
Cleverley can pass a pass efficiently, but he lacks in almost every other department. He provides no energy into the midfield, he waits for things to happen rather than playing on the front foot, and his statistics, in an attacking sense, speak for themselves.
The 24-year-old scored just one goal in his 31 games and failed to claim a single assist.
2) Nani
Although he arrived as a promising, explosive winger back in 2006, Nani has flattered to deceive and should be shown the exit this summer, in my opinion.
United need a structure that allows the likes of Adnan Januzaj, Juan Mata and Shinji Kagawa to thrive, and unfortunately Nani isn’t on their level.
3) Javier Hernandez
Hernandez doesn’t fit in at Manchester United, it’s as simple as that. The Mexico international is a streaky player who needs game time to really get into his stride, but he doesn’t get that at United because of his success coming off the bench. With Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck all fighting for that striker spot, I think the Red Devils may as well get rid of Chicharito.
4) Alex Buttner
Evra may be leaving, but Buttner will never be up to scratch when it comes to representing to Manchester United. He managed eight league appearances this season but I don’t expect him to be at the club by the start of the next one.
