Latest On Arsenal And Liverpool’s €9m Rated French Target

 Andre-Pierre Gignac

Arsenal and Liverpool are set to lose out on €9 million rated Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac as Serie A sides Inter and AC Milan are being linked with him according laprovence.com

The Frenchman’s contract expires in the summer, but since there are no ongoing contract talks between him and the club, it’s likely that he will be sold in January. Both Liverpool and Arsenal have been linked with Gignac in the last few months as they have struggled to find goals in the league, especially the former who failed to replace the departed Luis Suarez with a proven goalscorer.

The 29-year old has been in terrific form this season and has scored 12 times in 17 appearances in the league. He cost Marseille €16 Mil in 2010 but failed to live up to the fans’ expectation as he struggled in his 1st season by scoring just eight goals. Gignac did however, improve his tally in his second and third seasons at the club with 13 and 16 goals respectively. It is believed that Gignac’s true potential is being realised by Coach Marcel Bielsa who likes a fast paced pressing game; something that he will find in the Premier League as well.

Interest from elsewhere

Dynamo Moscow and Galatasaray too are interested in the Frenchman. Dynamo Moscow signed his teammate Mathieu Valbuena a few months ago and will try to sign Gignac in January. According to reports, Gignac could sign the deal if he is offered one as he wants to stay at the club. With Bielsa being offered only a two-year contract when he signed as the manager of Marseille, Gignac’s future could be thrown into the spotlight as he could move if the Chilean no longer remains as the manager. His tactics have been a key factor in the former Toulouse man’s good form and if a side with a similar setup come knocking then he could well move.
