With the distinct lack of transfer funds at his disposal, David Moyes has to be commended for his ability to guide Everton to top-half finishes season after season. This was no different last time out as the Toffees recovered from a dismally slow start (they didn’t win a league game until October) to finish a very respectable 7th place.

After Manchester United’s excellent performance at Wembley on Sunday, a lot of attention has focused on United being the team to beat in this season’s premier league and Sir Alex Ferguson’s side are understandably hotly tipped to regain the title this year.
Southend’s youth team manager Ricky Duncan was our gaffer and he led us through some basic warm-ups, sorted out positions and corner & free kick takers. Yeah, like we would get far enough up the pitch to win a corner!
It’s good fun watching Jeff Stelling’s team, it’s easy to park near Victoria Park and the media get some half time grub, but the big issue is that it’s at least a three-hour trip to get there. And when it’s a mid-week match, double the trouble!
On Friday, Arsenal were drawn with Italian side, Udinese, in the final qualifying match to determine if they’ll reach the Group stages of the Champions League. Udinese have lost some of their top players, including Colombian international defender, Cristian Zapata, who left for Spain’s Villareal. Swiss international midfielder, Gokhan Inler, who left for Napoli. While their star talent, Chilean international Alexis Sanchez, left for last year’s Champions League winners, Barcelona.
“Jelleyman has thrown a wobbly” is just one of things I am looking forward to hearing over the next football season. If you do not know what I am going on about then I am not sure that I consider you a true football fan, either that or you don’t have Sky.
