Last week Sunderland won the race to sign highly-rated 18 year-old Ipswich Town striker Connor Wickham. The Black Cats saw off interest from Premier League giants Liverpool, who Wickham has supported all his life, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal to secure the teenage sensation’s signature.

The Modric Saga

The most serious piece of business that Tottenham will do this season is regarding the future of one of their own, Luka Modric. This saga, which has already gone on for several weeks, seems as if it will go all the way to September 1st.

Liverpool ended the 2010-2011 campaign on a high, sure they hadn’t reached Europe but after a disastrous start and the sacking of Roy Hodgson miracles could not be expected from King Kenny in such a short space of time. G’day! Most of you might have heard of the A-League some of you may not? It’s the nearest thing Australia has got to the premier league or shall I say the conference! The A-league has many difficulties to overcome before it is celebrated as the countries number one sport and one of the top leagues in the world. The two main sports in Australia are the NRL (National Rugby League) and the AFL (Australian Football League) which overshadows the ‘soccer’.
