January Transfers: Chelsea Superstar Set To Complete Medical On Friday

It has been all over the news for some time now and was bound to eventually happen, with Columbian superstar Juan Cuadrado set to make the move to Stamford Bridge. With a deal on the cards, Chelsea forward Andre Schurrle is inching closer to a Bundesliga move after agreeing terms with German Wolfsburg. According to ESPN, medical will happen on Friday. Chelsea are expected to receive in excess of £20m for the 24-year-old World Cup winner.

Earlier today The German’s agent, Ingo Haspel revealed that move is almost done.

He said,

“There are still a few things to discuss, but we’re no longer talking about figures.”

Wolfsburg are currently placed second in the Bundesliga and Schurrle was keen on joining the 2009 champions after lack of regular playing time with the Blues had frustrated him in London. Chelsea, on the other hand had already found the perfect replacement in Cuadrado and that deal is almost complete too. Transfer fee got from selling the German will help the Blues to fund the move for the Colombian winger.

Chelsea Nearing To Complete Transfer For World Cup Star

The news has been full of speculations over the past few months about the future of German World Cup winning Chelsea winger Andre Schurrle’s future at the club. The 24 year old who moved to Stamford Bridge from German side Bayer Leverkusen in 2013 has made 44 appearances for the Blues since then and managed to score a tally of eleven goals. The German international was absent from Chelsea’s squad as they were surprisingly eliminated from the FA Cup by Bradford on Saturday, though there was no news of any possible injury to him. This added more fuel to the rumours of a possible exit soon as boss Jose Mourinho did not even name him, as one of the substitutes on the bench.

The German superstar has been linked for quite some time now with a move away from England as clubs in the Bundesliga are quite interested in bringing him back home. Chelsea too are prepared to listen to offers coming in as they look to cash in on their talented superstar in the January transfer window.

At the moment, German outfit Wolfsburg are leading the chase and have made a £22m bid for acquiring his services. According to recent news, Chelsea and Wolfsburg are now nearer to concluding a deal for Schurrle as talks have reached a further stage. The temptation to return to Germany may impact Schurrle’s decision, as the possible opportunity may be one, which he might look to grab with both hands.

The Blues are reluctant to let their winger leave without signing an apt replacement for him. Columbian international Juan Cuadrado is on Jose Mourinho’s radar should the German leave, although his current club Fiorentina do not wish to sell the World Cup sensation this month. Depending on the nature of talks between the Italians and the Premier League side, a decision for Schurrle’s future might be taken.

January Transfers: Chelsea Eager To Offload Two Superstars As Window Moves Ahead

According to the latest reports, Chelsea are now planning to offload a few of their own in the January transfer window. The Blues have been in the market all season for the signature of a world class defender, as manager Jose Mourinho believes that he needs more quality additions to the defensive line of his Chelsea side. The Premier League side has been linked with Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane, who has not been able to make it to the first team often, ahead of Pepe and Ramos.

In order to fund the move for the Madrid Star, Chelsea now looks to cash on a certain set of players including Egyptian star Mohamed Salah and German World Cup winning Andre Schurrle, who were not even part of the Chelsea squad which beat Newcastle on Saturday. The German was also hauled off at half-time against Watford, in their 3-0 win in 3rd round of the FA Cup. On the other hand, the 22 year old Salah, was on the bench for that game and was brought into the game. Further the winger has started just nine matches since joining from Basel last year.  Reportedly, The Portuguese manager is ready to listen to offers for either of the players with a view of letting them make the move, if a deal works out.

What happens next remains to be seen, as the future of both these stars, still hangs in the balance as of now.
