In an interview, Jose Mourinho said,

“I don’t know if Costa will be fit (for the opening day of the league season).”

“We thought he could be ready, but suddenly this morning he was not comfortable.”

“Two days ago he was ready to play. When I told you two days ago he was ready to play he was ready to play. He trained normally on Friday and yesterday at the end of the training session he said he was not feeling good.”

“But Falcao will have had a bit more football, he will play against Fiorentina from the start. We have Remy too, so if we don’t have Diego I am happy with the strikers I have.”

Chelsea Injury Update: Former La Liga Trio May Miss The Big Game Against Manchester City

Chelsea Injury Update

There might be some bad news for Chelsea and its fans, ahead of their all important Permier League tie against Manchester City, to be played on Saturday. During their 1-0 Capital One Cup semi-final victory over Liverpool, which was a hard fought extra-time win, Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas limped off after clattering into John Terry, in the early moments of the second half. The clash left such an impact on Fabregas, that the 27 year old Spaniard may miss out on this crucial game, which could play a major role in determining the fate of the Premier League title, this season.

To add to this, the Blues may also have to manage without their Brazilian left-back Filipe Luis, who was also forced off late in the second-half due to an injury as well. The pair could be missing for Saturday’s visit of City to Stamford Bridge, as the Manchester side look to close the five point gap, at the top of the table. When asked about the duo and more details on their injuries, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho said,

“Filipe [Luis] was a calf and Fabregas was a hamstring. Fabregas told me he wasn’t yet injured [immediately after the impact with Terry] but that he would be in a few moments.”

Chelsea will be looking to extend their lead to eight with victory over Manuel Pellegrini’s men and sit comfortably on top of the Premier League table. City, on the other hand would want a win and reduce the deficit to two points, which would make the title race a bit more open.

Also, Spanish striker Diego Costa may be facing a potential three match ban for violent conduct in Tuesday’s victory over Liverpool, which might rule him out of the fixture as well. The Spaniard will appeal the charge and FA will review the evidence and will make a final decision on Friday.

(Picture): Boost For Chelsea As Star Is Back In training; Likely To Start In The Weekend

Chelsea fans can breathe a huge sigh of relief. Widespread pictures circulating in micro blogging site Twitter have flashed pictures that Diego Costa is finally back in training for the Blues. The Spaniard who hasn’t featured in a game for Chelsea since October 5 is now expected to be available for selection against Queens Park rangers in the weekend as the Premier League resumes.

Costa has been suffering from a hamstring injury over the past weeks and there are suggestions that he might need a surgery to get over the frequent niggles. The former Atletico Madrid star was also admitted in hospital over a viral illness in the past weekend missing Chelsea’s crucial clash against Manchester United on Sunday at Old Trafford. However, he and Brazilian midfielder Ramires are finally back in the squad.

Manager Jose Mourinho confirmed the news,Without any further complications, Diego Costa and Ramires will be fit to face QPR at the weekend. Normally, Ramires and Diego Costa are back. Normally, we will have only [Loic] Remy as an injured player and [Cesar] Azpilicueta suspended.”

Key Injury Boost For Manchester United Ahead Of The Chelsea Game

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho confirmed that his side will be without the services of Diego Costa and Loic Remy for Sunday’s clash against Manchester United.

Chelsea ran out comfortable winners against Maribor on Tuesday after which Mourinho revealed, “Loic has a muscular injury. I don’t know the dimension and I’m not worried. We don’t cry on injuries. When a player is injured, play another one.

“It’s our philosophy, we don’t cry. We just think one injury means an opportunity for somebody else.

“We will prepare for the game (against Manchester United) Thursday, Friday, Saturday to try to be at our best possible level against an opponent which we respect very, very much.”

Remy got on the score sheet in the 13th minute after cutting in from the right side and shooting with his left foot. In the process, he seemed to have done some damage to his groin and was immediately grimacing in pain.

Diego Costa too will be a major doubt due to the hamstring injury suffered a fortnight ago. Costa did not feature in the win over Crystal Palace on Saturday and did not make the bench for the game against Maribor either.

This leaves Mourinho with Didier Drogba upfront who scored through a penalty against Maribor; his 1st since returning to the club from Galatasaray. Drogba was handed the chance to score as Eden Hazard gave him the penalty taking duty very generously. However, manager Jose Mourinho wasn’t impressed with the gesture, “I was surprised that Eden Hazard gave the ball to Didier Drogba for the penalty. I wasn’t particularly pleased, no. I have my choices and Hazard is No 1. Because it was a goal, I was happy.

“I don’t like it. They have the freedom to do it. They can do it, but he has to score.”

Drogba has an impressive goal scoring record against Manchester United and will be fairly confident ahead of the clash especially considering the fact that the United defense has been really poor so far. Costa and Remy’s presence will definitely be missed, but even without them, Chelsea have enough firepower to hurt Manchester United.

Projected Chelsea Lineup To Face Arsenal – CAC (Cesc And Costa) Will Be The Key For The Blues

There are a lot of unfinished business from Chelsea and Arsenal. The Arsenal fans still must be grievously hurt from last season’s of mauling of 6-0 and they would do anything to see their team take the revenge on the London club. Chelsea on the other hand would hand, would like to keep their momentum going and register another win on Arsenal to keep themselves at the top of the table.

Mourinho hints Chelsea exit?

There will be another contest within the contest going on between the two managers. Jose Mourinho has never missed an opportunity to take a jibe at Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and last season termed him as a Specialist in Failure. Although Wenger never took that path to get back at the former Real Madrid manager, he would definitely like to make scores even on the football ground.

And lastly this will be the first team that Cesc Fabregas will be facing Arsenal since his return to England and the former Arsenal man will be in a very emotional place. He has never hidden the fact that he wanted a move to Arsenal when he decided to leave Barcelona, but Arsene Wenger was not keen on getting his services and ultimately he had to join Chelsea. We take a look at the predicted Chelsea lineup for this high voltage game.

Goal Keeper And Defence

Courtois will be at the goal for Chelsea ahead of Cech and although the Belgian keeper has not been able to keep as many clean sheets as he would have liked, the fact remains that he is one of the best keepers at the moment in the world.
Cesar Azpilicueta will again be preferred ahead for Filipe Luis in the left back position as Branislav Ivanovic will be at the right back. John Terry and Gary Cahill will be the two centre backs for the team like usual and all these four will be entrusted with the job of keeping the Arsenal defenders quiet.

A huge moment for Cesc Fabregas as he plays against Arsenal. But as a professional he will be expected to do his job and keep up the good form. Matic has developed himself into one of the most prolific defensive midfielders of the Premier League and he will face a stern test against Arsenal which has the likes of Sanchez, Ozil. Cazorla and a rejuvenated Welbeck. The other man in the midfield is supposed to be Oscar and although he has not justice to his talents this season, Mourinho will expect him to perform better.

Diego Costa will be leading the line once again amid some concerns about his fitness. He has been a tremendous performer for Chelsea till now and a lot will depend on how he will perform against the Gunners. Eden Hazard will take up his place as he does in the attacking half and he will be looking to heap misery on Arsenal. For the final name on the team sheet, there will be a fight between Schurrle and Willian but we feel that the German world cup winner may just start ahead of the Brazilian.

Predicted Lineup

Ivanovic  Terry  Cahill   Azpilicueta

Matic   Cesc

 Schurrle                       Hazard
