What a difference a year makes! Well, I know it hasn’t been a full year as yet since we last played United in an FA Cup tie, just a mere nine months have past since that Yaya Toure goal went in.

It was this time last year that the transfer market went slighty mental with the transfers of Fernando Torres and Andy Carroll.

Manchester United will be aiming to wipe away the painful memory that was Manchester City’s 6-1 win at Old Trafford this season by knocking Roberto Mancini’s side out of the FA Cup on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester United of course play Manchester City in a crunch FA Cup third round clash  at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, so with that in mind it’s worth taking a look at these three players who we should be wary of going into the game: 

“You wouldn’t think it’s Man United they are playing” said my non-footballing genius mother, as a distinctly average Blackburn side ruthlessly tore through Manchester United last week. That’s right, anyone can see that Fergie has problems, massive problems.

With the January transfer window now open and in full flow, transfer negotiations have started at clubs across the country. One player who seems certain to move on during this 31 day long window is Bolton Wanderers and England defender Gary Cahill.

Now that we’re into the New Year, it’s time to look back on the year that was 2011 and pick out the players that made the year their own.
