As always, Liverpool’s contest with Arsenal on Sunday proved to be an entertaining affair. The two teams have played out some classics over the last couple of seasons and the best has to be the 4-4 draw the two teams played out in April 2009 at Anfield.
Liverpool and Manchester United were competing for the Premier League tite and many believed that the 08/09 season was the Merseysiders best chance to win their first league title in nearly 20 years, having beaten Manchester United 4-1 at Old Trafford less than a month before this encounter.
Torres and Gerrard were enjoying fantastic seasons but they came up against a little Russian dynamo who Arsenal had purchased for £15 million that January. The Russian was in irresistible form, scoring all four of Arsenal’s goals in a display that Gooners wish he could replicate just a fraction of these days.
