Friday Night Football: Genoa vs AC Milan

AC Milan enter this game in terrific form losing only once this calendar year in all competitions – Impressive.

This evenings fixture against relegation fighters Genoa gives AC Milan the perfect opportunity to close the five point gap on second placed Napoli.

Milan have almost a full squad to select from, with only former Manchester City midfielder Nigel De Jong and Didac Vila out injured.

This means that defender Phillipe Mexes returns from suspension to slot nicely back into the back four.

However, AC Milan may have one eye on the midweek Champions league tie with Barcelona so we may see a slightly different side than we are used to.

Genoa lost 3-1 to Roma in their last game and going by the form guide, it looks a huge task to get anything from this game. The task is made tougher with striker Antonio Floro Flores certainly absent along with midfield duo Marco Rossi and Ruben Olivera.

The injuries do not stop there as Genoa are also without Brazilian midfielder Matuzalem, Enis Nadarevic and the suspended Juraj Kucka.

Only since a ban was lifted in 2010 have AC Milan fans been able to travel to Genoa. The ban was first put in place in 1995 after a Genoa fan was stabbed to death by AC Milan ‘Ultras’ – Expect a very fiery atmosphere!
