Chelsea will offer for Real Madrid’s £20m midfielder should Jose Mourinho become boss
Well, with a summer of change upon the horizon for Chelsea it seems that the rumours keep on coming. This time we have heard, via the Mirror, that Roman Abramovich’s attempts to lure Jose Mourinho back to the Bridge will be a costly one, as the Portuguese coach has identified £20m Real Madrid midfilder Sami Khedira as a high priority target.
The Russian owner is already locked in negotiations regarding the cost of Mourinho arriving in west London as the next Blues boss, and with the rumours flying around about who will be following him into the club going into overdrive Abramovich is sure to be blowing a fortune this summer.
Although it is not like he can’t afford it, is it?
Chelsea are ready to leave the club’s highest ever scorer unattached at the end of the season, bizarrely, and start to reshape the spine of the squad. David Luiz is being suggested as the new captain while the likes of John Terry, Ashley Cole and Fernando Torres have all been linked with moves.
I am not sure the Chelsea fans will be too bothered about the latter, mind you.
Khedira is a defensive midfielder with exceptional intelligence off the ball. His positioning as well as his ability to read the game makes him a huge asset to any midifeld he participates in, whether Real Madrid or Germany, and his ball retention also makes him an alluring player to watch.
