PSG want extended Beckham stay

Paris Saint-Germain are trying to convince David Beckham to spend another year in France but the 38-year-old has yet to make up his mind over his own future.

The former England international’s deal at the French giants runs out at the end of the season, but PSG are keen for him to stay and are thought to have offered the same salary for another year in the capital.

PSG are just one game away from winning the Ligue 1 title, but Beckham is still suspended after seeing red against Evian last month for a tackle branded “naughty” by Joey Barton.

Beckham’s side are are currently seven points ahead of second-place Marseille in Ligue 1, and close to a first title since 1994.

Beckham featured in for the club in their 2-2 draw at home to Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-final where he played a very deep role in central midfield.

He made his debut for the club when he came off the bench against Marseille in February, and has made 10 appearances altogether, picking up two yellow cards as well as the one red.

Earlier this month PSG assistant coach Paul Clement said Beckham had been “a breath of fresh air” since joining the club.

“He gets on with everyone – first out to training, the last one back in, a real enthusiasm for the game,” Clement added.
