3 reasons why Chelsea need to keep hold of Kevin de Bruyne

When Kevin de Bruyne was handed a start on the opening day of the Premier League against Hull in August, he would have been hopeful that Jose Mourinho was planning on keeping him there, especially after claiming an early assist. However, he has since found game time hard to come by, and was then axed from Chelsea’s Champions League squad, unfairly, in my opinion, and reports are suggesting he will be on his way in the new year. Here are three reasons why Chelsea shouldn’t let him leave.

1) Magic

The Belgian is incredible with the ball at his feet. He is fleet of foot, holds brilliant awareness and his technique is second to none. His intelligence in possession is also admirable, as he times his passes to perfection. He has made three key passes in his appearances, despite not having a lot of time to do so, and has completed 83% of his passes in general. He claimed 10 assists in the Bundesliga last term.

2) Composed

A lot of 22-year-olds find goals hard to come by, especially when deployed on the wing. However, de Bruyne struck 10 goals last season while on loan at Werder Bremen in his 33 league games.

3) Potential

The potential this young man holds is incredible. Anyone who has seen him in full flow with a run of games under his belt will know that, and although his defensive work isn’t as strong as Oscar’s, or he’s not as speedy as Willian, his dribbling skills are incredible, and amongst the best in Europe.
