With reports linking Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez with a move to Old Traford this January, we take a look where the Chilean winger would fit in at Manchester United.
Sanchez is a skilful player who enjoys running at opponents and cutting inside, much like United’s summer signing Wilfreid Zaha. But unlike the former Crystal Palace forward, Sanchez has the awareness, the delivery and the experience at the very top of club football.
The Barca player, who is still only 24 despite seemingly player in La Liga for decades, is also a more attractive option than Ashley Young on the wing. Although Sanchez is slight of frame, he still holds his own against the more robust defenders, while holding the nimble feet to make them look foolish.
Last season Sanchez played 29 games for the first team and scored eight goals, as well as sculpting 35 chances. However, this season he has scored four and created six chances in just six league games.
Despite not having the power that Antonio Valencia holds, Sanchez has more of a bite about him. He can beat a player with ease before whipping the ball into the danger areas, whereas Valencia tends to sprint in a straight line and lose possession.
He is flexible with his positions, also, and would be brilliant should David Moyes start to deploy Shinji Kagawa in the side as they could interchange at will.
Sanchez would be a brilliant player, especially if Zaha goes out on loan and Young was shown the exit door in January. He could also mentor Adnan Januzaj.
What do you reckon United fans, where would he fit into your side?
