Chelsea may have conceded three goals away at Sunderland last night, but they also peppered the Black Cats’ goal and got their just rewards as they ran out 4-3 winners at the Stadium of Light. There was one man who shone for the Blues, and that was Eden Hazard.
The Belgium international absolutely battered Gus Poyet’s men right from the off and was eventually rewarded with a brace against the North East side. It was his lovely, little chipped cross that allowed Frank Lampard to nod in the opener.
Hazard continued to tear into the Sunderland defence and had them scrambling all over the pitch. He completed 91% of his attempted passes, three of which were key, and his movement was too much for the home side to handle.
The way he swivels his hips while running at pace is brilliant to watch and when he wants to be he’s near impossible to contain.
Four of his five shots were on target and he was the winner of 12 of his 15 attempted take ons, which tell you just how hard he is to stop when he has the ball at his feet.
He was fully deserving of his brace against Sunderland yesterday and it puts him in good stead ahead of the Blues’ trip to Stoke on Saturday.
