With Arsenal and Manchester City both playing tomorrow, Chelsea had a chance to stretch their gap at the top of the Premier League table to four points. Jose Mourinho rallied his side and led them up to the Hawthorns to take on a West Brom side who sat in the bottom three before the game kicked off, but things didn’t quite go to plan.
Chelsea bossed possession as you would come to expect and also had more shots at goal, but what West Brom did with the ball, and their shape while off it, was very impressive. The Baggies made 29 clearances, won 19 tackles and won eight of their 18 headed duels, while trying their luck at goal on 12 occasions.
Despite Branislav Ivanovic opening the scoring with a swept effort on the stroke of half time, the home side struck back through a Victor Anichebe header in the final stages of the game. The game finished 1-1 and saw the Baggies climb out of the drop zone and also saw the Blues open up a two point gap at the top.
It will undoubtedly feel more like a loss than a draw as the goal came so late, but they only have themselves to blame for not putting the game to bed. Here are three people who I believe should be dropped ahead of their FA Cup tie with Manchester City.
