Manchester United battled admirably at Old Trafford in the first leg of their tie with Bayern Munich and earned a 1-1 draw at the end of it. Although they were made to dig deep at times, United ensured that the second leg would be the game to decide who progresses. Tonight is the night where they can put some shine on a dismal season. However, the first leg they didn’t have to deal with Franck Ribery.
The Frenchman will be out to hurt the Red Devils tonight. Named as the third best player on the planet at the start of the year, Ribery missed the first tie through injury, but will start on the left flank this evening.
The France international has scored 12 goals this season between the Bundesliga and the Champions League, while also notching 11 assists in those competitions.
Ribery averages 5 successful dribbles per game and 2.7 shots, and it will be up to Phil Jones, probably, to stop him.
He can play on either wing but likes to drift inside and beat his man, and his shooting is incredible to say the least. He makes 2.9 key passes per game and his movement opens up gaps, and I think tonight United will feel the force of him.
